Discrimination laws are constantly changing and growing, especially in California. In this seminar students will learn about: Federal and state discrimination, harassment and retaliation laws, including FEHA, Title VII, ADEA, EPA, ADA, Rehabilitation Act, Executive Order 11246 and USERRA; theories of discrimination and harassment; liability; enforcing agencies; and defenses through lecture and case studies. In addition, this seminar will include preventative strategies, such as policies and procedures, training, handbooks, progressive discipline, probationary periods and releases upon termination.

This course will take place fully online, asynchronous (no scheduled meeting time). The students may move through the course materials via Canvas at their own pace. There are 6 hours of coursework videos, etc. to complete during the scheduled dates, Nov. 4, 2024 - Nov. 10, 2024 (starting Monday and ending on Sunday at 11:59pm).
