The course focuses on how AI is used in HR practices to determine who sees job openings, who is judged favorably during interviews, and who makes it through evaluation filters. From biases in training datasets to ill-considered models, applications of AI in HR can pose severe risks to civil rights. This course will offer employees and employers a deeper understanding of how AI-enabled tools enter HR, their effects, and appropriate technology, policy, and governance strategies to maximize benefits and mitigate harm.
Notes:
This course will take place fully online, asynchronous (no scheduled meeting time). The students may move through the course materials via Canvas at their own pace. There are 6 hours of coursework videos, etc. to complete during the scheduled dates, April 7-13. (starting Monday and ending on Sunday at 11:59pm).
