Violence in Schools

Understand the foundation of violence and motivational purposes behind aggression. The correlation and impact of the media, community, and family upon violence will be investigated including identification and intervention approaches to working with out-of-control behaviors. Participants receive information on national resources available to parents and teachers. The course helps students increase their understanding of violence, the motivations behind the use of violence, and specific strategies to minimize the occurrence of violence in a school and community. Credit Restrictions: Students must consult with the school district and/or state licensing agency to verify if these course offerings will meet his/her district and/or state requirements for salary advancement and/or state certificate re-licensure. Repeatability: May be repeated for a maximum of 4 semester units. Grading: A-F grading only. Equivalent Quarter Course: TED 7464.
