Paralegal Internship

This internship bridges the gap between the classroom and the legal marketplace. You are placed in a legal setting of your choice for practical, on-the-job experience in a law firm, corporation, or other legal environment. You are free to choose your own placement. If you need assistance in choosing an internship, you are encouraged to contact the instructor before the class meeting. Requirements for the class are: 120 hours of internship work, attendance at three mandatory seminar meetings, and completion of a journal of work performed during the internship. CSUEB students do not have to find their internship position. We have many internship positions available for our students. This information will be given to the students during the FIRST internship meeting. Students must get pre-approval from the Paralegal Program Director if they want to find their own internship position. Prerequisites: All courses from POSC 801 through POSC 809. Grading: CR/NC grading only. Equivalent Quarter Course: POSC 7020.

Notes:

This course consists of 3 required class meetings taking place on the online synchronous format. The required Zoom class meetings take place on Saturday 8/20 (Noon - 2 pm), 9/17 (10 am - Noon), and 10/15 (10 am - Noon). During the first class meeting, the instructor will provide students with a list of approved employers who may serve a internship placements. Students will make selections from the list and then contact the employer to set up an interview to secure the internship. Any questions about the Internship requirement can be directed to Carol Thornberry at carolthornberry@sbcglobal.net . Students are required to complete a 120 hour internship while enrolled in the Paralegal Internship class. Students who hold a BA/BS from CSUEB should enroll in this class using the Forever Pioneer Registration Form, found here: https://ce.csueastbay.edu/registration/tuition.html .
