Study of criminal law in California, both substantive and procedural, from the initial crime through the appeals process. Both the prosecutorial and defense positions will be examined with emphasis on discovery, case preparation, pretrial motions, trial, judgment, and sentencing. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units. Grading: A-F grading only. Equivalent Quarter Course: POSC 7021.

ELECTIVE. This is an online synchronous course with required Zoom class meetings that take place on Wednesday evenings, starting 6/4 and ending on 7/30 (no class meeting on 7/2). The online class meetings are from 6-9:30 pm. The Zoom link will be posted to the course portal in Canvas and also emailed to students within 2 days of first class meeting.
