Study of criminal law in California, both substantive and procedural, from the initial crime through the appeals process. Both the prosecutorial and defense positions will be examined with emphasis on discovery, case preparation, pretrial motions, trial, judgment, and sentencing. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units. Grading: A-F grading only. Equivalent Quarter Course: POSC 7021.

Notes:

This is an elective course in the CSUEB Paralegal Studies program. All students seeking the Certificate of Completion are required to complete 1 elective during their time in the Paralegal Studies certificate program. This course is an online synchronous class taking place on Wednesday evenings with Zoom class meetings starting on 6/3 and ending on 7/29 (no meeting on 7/1). Students who have a BA/BS from CSUEB should enroll using the Forever Pioneer Registration Form to receive a discount on the course fee.
