Evidence for Paralegals

In this course, you will learn the principles of evidence, including the rules and standards that influence the admissibility and content of evidence. Paralegals may be asked to conduct interviews, do investigative work, locate and prepare witnesses, collect and assess documentary evidence, prepare pleadings and declarations, and perform numerous evidentiary functions. This course prepares you to assist in properly collecting, preserving, presenting and coordinating evidence at the pretrial and trial levels. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units. Grading: A-F grading only. Equivalent Quarter Course: POSC 7037.

Notes:

ELECTIVE COURSE. Students seeking the Paralegal Studies certificate must complete at least one Paralegal elective course during their time in the Paralegal Studies certificate program. This course is offered in the online synchronous format with live required Zoom class meetings taking place on Thursday evening starting 8/20 and ending on 10/8. The Zoom information will be available to enrolled students through Canvas within 3 days of the first scheduled Zoom class meeting.
