What Should I Eat? Understanding The Science Behind Sport Nutrition

  • Class Number: 3769
  • Units: 2
  • Fee: $250.00

At its most basic level, sport nutrition is the practice of ingesting nutrients in the correct amounts and at specific times to improve sport performance. Many individuals are not competitive in their physical activity pursuits; rather, they are concerned with improving their body composition, strength and/or cardiovascular endurance, or general fitness level. Regardless, the same general nutrition principles that apply to the elite athlete can also be applied to the individual working toward personal health and fitness goals. This course discusses how food and sport supplements interact with the body's biological functions to affect exercise and sport performance.  The course is relevant for many populations, from parents of active teenagers to Olympic and professional athletes. Grading: A-F grading only. Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 7825.
