This course examines mental skills developed by high performance athletes such as participants in the Olympic Games. The text chapters present theory in sport psychology and describe how research and theory are put into practice with athletes, coaches, and teams. Course participants will see that many of the principles and techniques used with elite athletes can be applied to youth and recreational sport and other achievement activities. Participants are challenged to explore how the concepts are employed by actual athletes/coaches observed through the media and how these concepts might be applied in their own coaching or teaching. Grading: A-F grading only. Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 7823.
