This course involves the focus on adapting the environment to meet the needs of children with trauma in order to improve learning and promote healing. Children with trauma need strong relationships, meaningful participation, and seek control of their environment. Participants will use the latest research on Universal Design for Learning and other models of Personalized Learning to adapt their classroom or school environment based on principles of Trauma Supportive Schools. Grading: A-F grading only.

This class meets in the online synchronous format with 5 required Zoom class meetings. The Zoom class meetings take place on the following Saturdays: 6/15, 7/27, 8/24, 9/28, and 10/26. The first three class meetings take place from 9-11 am and the last three class meetings take place from 9 am - noon. The Zoom link will be emailed to enrolled students within 3 days of the first scheduled class meetings. Students who are enrolling in this course should also enroll in EPSY 858 as these two courses are intended to be taken concurrently in the same semester. Students must have completed EPSY 855 and EPSY 856 prior to enrolling in this course. Course materials will be available in Canvas.
