This is an overview course for the construction contracting professional. Students will learn the basic business practices typically encountered and utilized in running a construction company. Subject matter will cover licensing requirements in California, elementary accounting procedures, bonding and insurance practices, safety issues and requirements, choice of business entity, developing business credit lines, financial statement presentations, introduction to job costing and basic payroll practice for both private and public works.
This course is one of the first two courses in the Construction Management certificate program. New students in this program should enroll in this course and the 'Drawings & Specifications' course for Fall Session 1. This course will meet online, with synchronous class meetings on Mondays (6:30 - 9:20 pm), starting on 08/17 and ending on 10/12 (there will be no meeting on 9/7). Enrolled students can access the course on CSUEB's BlackBoard system at bb.csueastbay.edu with the Net ID and password. Students who have received a BA or BS from CSUEB should enroll in this course using the 'Forever Pioneer Enrollment Form' to receive a discount on the course fee. This form can be found on the 'Tuition & Fees' page of the CSUEB Contenting Education website.
