Start your own business, become a more valuable employee, earn additional income, or get re-commissioned with Cal State East Bay’s selection of Notary Public Training courses.
Choose from three course options, each customized to meet your professional goals and notary status. To accommodate your busy lifestyle, all classes are conveniently offered online or in-person on Saturdays at the Hayward Hills Campus.
Cal State East Bay’s intensive seminar is designed to equip you with everything you need to know to become an effective notary. During the course, you’ll gain hands-on and practical experience with notarizations, including journal entries and identifying signers. You’ll also meet the educational requirement mandated by California law and take a practice Notary Public Exam to solidify your expertise. After completing the course, you’ll have the opportunity to sit for the official notary exam while the material is still fresh in your mind.
I really felt the course prepared me well for the Notary test, which I passed. The cost was very reasonable and the Saturday schedule made it easy for me to attend.
Are you already a notary but need to renew your notary commission? State law requires notaries to retake the exam every four years. Review all laws and regulations you are required to know to continue as a notary during Cal State East Bay’s 3-hour state required seminar. This one-stop course also allows you to sit for the exam immediately following the class so you can get on with your business without delay.
Becoming a notary increased my value as an employee to my current employer and made me more attractive to prospective employers.
Don’t stop at your notary commission. Take your career to the next level by becoming a loan signing agent and make $200 to $500 per signing! In this seminar, you’ll learn everything from how to properly notarize loan packages to negotiating your fee and advertising yourself as a professional in the real estate market. By the end of the course, you’ll know what it takes to join a successful signing agency and even receive online resources to get you started on your own business.
Before enrolling, be sure to check out the eligibility requirements and details for each course below.
The Notary Public Exam will be held immediately after each training session. Since exam seating is limited, seats will be assigned to those registered first. The cost of the exam is $40.00, paid via check made out to “Secretary of State."
If you are renewing your notary commission, you’ll need to take the exam and be fingerprinted again. A 6-hour approved course must be taken first and there can be no lapse in your commission. Otherwise, you are required to take the 6-hour course again.
You don’t need to be a commissioned notary or to have received the results of your exam in order to take this course, but you will need to have completed a Notary class.
